2016 Trends and Bestsellers

Amazon have released the best selling items of 2016, so I thought looking over that would give us a chance to remember the year that was 2016.

January New year and new resolutions to break. Detox and healthy eating books were closely followed by fitness DVDs. Joe Wicks’s book Lean in 15 lead the charge with DVDs Davina: 5 Week Fit and Charlotte and Crosby’s 3 Minute Belly Blitz hot on its tail.

February Sheet Face Masks. Once we all gave up with eating right and exercising, Adele, Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber reminded us the the best way to be beautiful is to lie back and cover you face.

March brought with it warmer weather and my personal favourite; the spider catcher. Sales shot up as neighbours took it in turns to drop spiders on each others side of the fence.

With summer only a few months away April saw Athleisure sales shoot up. With power leggings, training vests topping the sales charts

Euro 2016 got everyone excited and during May Panini Official UEFA Euro topped the Toys bestsellers list.

With hotter temperatures we all went mad for Inflatable pool toys. Sales on Instagrammable Inflatables were up 540% in June.

As summer got into full swing, July was spent inside reading. Harry Potter and, The Cursed Child was released and it promptly went straight to the top of the charts.

The last of the warm summer evenings were spent relaxing with a bottle of Rosé, sales soared 530% in August so it was probably more likely 2-3 bottles.

Roald Dahl would have been 100 in September. And as we were all reminded about the The BFG and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory sales spiked up.

Lions, Bat Dogs and wizards were all popular with Halloween Dog Costumes surging up 62% from October 2015.

Nothing beats getting cosy on a cold November night with a Slanket. Except 2016 saw the rise of the Mermaid tail blankets. With all thing Potter and Dahl read, The Little Book of Hygge became a best seller as we tried to enjoy a nice cold and wet November.

December (and we are getting near to the end now), and everyone was looking ahead. Christmas dinners will have been perfect with Jamie Oliver’s Christmas Cookbook topping the Christmas cookbook chart and it seams only people of a certain age still use wall calendars with Sir Cliff Richard OBE having the best selling calendar of the year.

Did you partake in any of these trends? If not what about some of the other best sellers of the year: Hasbro Speak Out, the Fire TV Stick or Fire 7″ Tablet.
