New Year and a New You!

Posted by

After spending far too much on Christmas presents (yet again), eating more then you thought possible over the Christmas break and waking up with a nasty hangover on New year’s day. A lot of us decide, this year will be different.

So while looking at a bloated hungover person in the mirror we put ‘get healthy’ at the top of the list. However January in England is not the best time of year to go out for a jog and with most Gyms charging an arm and a leg for memberships a smarter spender needs some alternatives.

The best things in life are free!

Getting fit for free was never easier, you can find some high quality fitness videos on YouTube for most levels (beginner to fitness freak). And a lot of them run a 30 challenge in January so you get a new video every day. The 2 I’ll be trying to do this year are Millionaire Hoy and Yoga with Tim. I’ll be aiming to alternate between the 2 so it should keep me going until the end of February.

If YouTube isn’t quite your thing there are some great DVDs the current most popular are

  1. Joe Wicks Lean 15
  2. Scarletts Superslim Me Plan DVD
  3. Charlotte Crosbys Minute Belly Blitz

Eat smarter No matter what you do for sport if you really want to see some results you’ll need to eat smarter, so checkout these books:

  1. Tom Kerridges Dopamine Diet stay happy
  2. Lean 15 Minute Workouts Healthy
  3. 8 Week Blood Sugar Diet Reprogramme

Get Equipped

Exercising in front of your laptop isn’t quite your thing? Then get some equipment! If you have the space, a machine can be a great way to work out, and one of the big advantages is you can just get on and do it. No searching for DVDs or YouTube channels. They can be expensive to buy but with frequent use it can be a great investment. Below is a very brief round up of some of the different types of machines you can get:

Get out and meet some people

Find an activity you enjoy and search for a club nearby. Climbing, Swimming, dancing or extreme ironing, if you need a group to keep you motivated joining a local club could be a great way to stay motivated. And as an added bonus you could meet some new people and learn something new.

No matter what you choose stick with it and come summer you can go on a shopping spree for your new beach body with the money you saved by not going to the gym!
